We are excited to let you know that this year we’ll be using one Communication App (ParentSquare) to communicate with you throughout the district, including in your child’s classrooms, teams and groups.

With ParentSquare you’ll be able to:
• Receive all district, school and classroom communication via email, text, or push notifications/app
• View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events and receive reminders
• Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
• Communicate via direct message with teachers, coaches and student organization advisors in a secure environment

Activate your Account | You have received an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare, if not email jessica.martin@keokukschools.org. Click the link in the email to activate your account. You can download the free mobile app for iOS or Android.

StudentSquare | Students in grades 6-12 are able to communicate with their coaches, teachers and advisors more effectively.

 

Open the invitation email or text you received. Click Activate your account or tap the link to activate your account.

Register now so you can:
•Customize Notifications from email, text & the App.
•RSVP for Parent/Teacher Conferences and more.
•Sign Permission Slips and Get Class Notifications.
•Receive notifications from Coaches, Advisors & Teachers.

  • Create a Password for your ParentSquare account and click Register.
  • Click Confirm for your phone number and/or email. A verification code will be sent
    to the email and/or phone number.
  • Enter the verification code to confirm.
     
  • Confirm your child(ren) by clicking Confirm. Use Not My Child if a child listed is not associated with your account.
  • Select Yes, This is Me when you have confirmed your contact information and child(ren) associated with your account.Name misspelled? Wrong email or phone number? Missing a child on your account? Contact your child’s school to get this information updated.

ParentSquare, our parent communication system/app, is used to communicate with KCSD parents/guardians, including any updates from principals, teachers, coaches, club sponsors, and activity directors. Additionally, StudentSquare will be used to communicate with students grades 6-12. Please make sure your phone number and email addresses are accurate in your Parent Portal on PowerSchool when you register so that ParentSquare will have your correct info. The ParentSquare app is compatible for download to all cellular phones, and if you have the app, you will receive push notifications as well. ParentSquare urgent alerts will work with or without the app.

If you are a parent or student grades 6-12, you will only view posts for your School, grades, classes and teams/groups that you belong to. If you interact with the post, for example, appreciate, sign up or RSVP, or comment (the default is to have comments only viewable to the post admin), this means only the post admin (who posted it from the district) and district admin can see any of the interactions mentioned, not other parents or students. ParentSquare is only similar to social media in how your feed adjusts to the classes and groups that pertain to your student.

If you are a staff member, you can view posts for your School, all grades, classes and public groups. If you are a designated ParentSquare Admin at your School, you can view posts for the School, all grades, classes and all groups. If you are a School Principal or District Admin, you can view direct messages at your School.

For those who are designated ParentSquare Admin, they can invite users to join ParentSquare, however admin may not invite users not associated with the district through a PowerSchool account. ParentSquare Users must be associated with KCSD through a PowerSchool account of a student, or designated by a parent/guardian of a KCSD student’s PowerSchool account to “Receive Mail” or that the student “Lives With” this person. If any of your child’s contacts in PowerSchool has Lives With or Receives Mail selected, they will get notified with important school and weather-related announcements (urgent alerts). If you wish to update this information, please do so through your PowerSchool Parent Portal and then once it is updated, the changes will be reflected in ParentSquare by the next day. If ParentSquare is sending you school communication via email, text, voice call, and/or push notifications and you do not wish to receive any notifications for School-related activities, please contact the associated school secretary or adjust notification settings in your ParentSquare app.

Community Members can join two public groups “Keokuk Chiefs Fans,” for up-to-date information on athletics and activities, and “Chief Messenger,” for approved community events appropriate for children and families.

Step 1: Click the Menu in the upper left hand corner, the three lines.
Step 2: Click Account on the left menu, then click Notifications (right) under My Account
Step 3: Update your notification settings, we recommend continuing to receive Smart Alerts and Push Notifications instantly.
