Keokuk High School varsity track athlete and junior Ryan Bair placed second in class 3A in the Iowa state track finals in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with a 10.69 second 100 and a 21.59 second 200, both are personal and school records, and both are the second fastest times of all of the classes on May 24. His time of 21.59 in the 200 was in second place by 0.01.

Bair qualified and competed in all four finals of his events, the 100 and 200 meter dashes, sprint medley relay, and 4×200 meter relay at the 2025 Iowa High School Track & Field Championships on May 22-24 in Des Moines. Keokuk’s 4×200 meter relay team placed seventh overall and along with Bair, included Drew Campbell, Travarius Smith and Tramell Smith, and they ran a personal record of 1:28.89 seconds in the finals.

In total, the Keokuk Chiefs Varsity Track athletes qualified and competed in 12 events.

KHS qualified and participated in the following state track finals:

  • 100m Dash (Boys) – Ryan Bair, placed 2nd
  • 200m Dash (Boys) – Ryan Bair, placed 2nd
  • 4x200m Relay (Boys) – Ryan Bair, Drew Campbell, Travarius Smith and Tramell Smith, placed 7th and ran a personal record of 1:28.89 seconds
  • 4x200m Relay (Girls), Camryn Atterberg, Violet Shead, Alaya Carr and Ada Wood, placed 19th and ran a personal record of 146.95 seconds
  • High Jump (Girls) – Camryn Atterberg, placed 19th
  • Sprint Medley Relay (Boys) – Travarius Smith, Ryan Bair, Drew Campbell and Kurt Joy are also District Champs, did not finish

State qualifiers that competed in the preliminary events but did not qualify for the finals included:

  • 100m Hurdles (Girls) – Layonna Stewart, placed 20th in the preliminary event
  • 4x100m Relay (Boys) – Drew Campbell, Travarius Smith, Tramell Smith and Kurt Joy, placed 19th in the preliminary event
  • Shuttle Hurdle Relay (Girls): Layonna Stewart, Baylee Billings, Alaya Carr and Kylee Hoard, placed 23rd in the preliminary event
  • 4x400m Relay (Boys) – Travarius Smith, Tramell Smith, Brenton Hoard and Chayce Smith, placed 22nd in the preliminary event
  • 4x400m Relay (Girls) – Baylee Billings, Preslie Weigert, Camryn Atterberg and Violet Shead, who placed 24th in the preliminary event
