Janet Fife-LaFrenz honored with Friends of Hawthorne Award

Hawthorne Elementary honored Janet Fife-LaFrenz with a Friends of Hawthorne Award at an awards assembly with students on May 23 at Hawthorne.

“She is truly part of the Hawthorne team and we value and appreciate her dedication to serving our students,” Diane Berner, teacher and member of the Hawthorne Facilities Committee, said. “Congratulations, Janet, and thank you, from all of us.”

After a long and successful teaching career, Fife-LaFrenz has continued as a substitute teacher in the Keokuk Community School District. Following a nomination period and voting by the Hawthorne Facilities Committee, Janet Fife-LaFrenz was named the 42nd recipient of the award.

The Friend of Hawthorne Award was created to recognize and thank volunteers, businesses and community members that have gone above and beyond to support Hawthorne students. The first award was presented for the 1999-2000 school year.
