Keokuk Chiefs ready to Banish the Bloodhounds for Homecoming

The Keokuk Chiefs are set to “Banish the Bloodhounds” at this year’s Homecoming game and enjoy a host of festivities. Homecoming’s theme and activities were largely planned by the Keokuk High School Student Council.

Homecoming Week’s (Sept. 30- Oct. 5) schedule for all grade levels & Community:

  • Monday, Sept. 30: Wild West vs West Coast theme in schools
  • Tuesday, Oct. 1: Favorite Holiday theme in schools
  • Wednesday, Oct. 2: Favorite Sports Team theme in schools
  • Thursday, Oct. 3: Class Shirt for KHS students/Neon Day for all other schools theme in schools; KHS Field Day; 6 p.m. Homecoming Parade on Main Street: then Homecoming Pep Rally at Calvert Stadium.
  • Friday, Oct. 4: Spirit Day (Purple/White) theme in schools; Gates open at 4 p.m.; 5-7 p.m. Chief Nation Tailgate with Keokuk Athletic Boosters; “Banish the Bloodhounds” Homecoming Game at 7 p.m.; Half-time show will feature presentation of Homecoming Court
  • Saturday, Oct. 5: Homecoming Dance for KHS Students

The Field Day at KHS will feature dodgeball, volleyball, powder puff football, art projects, video games and more.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the Pep Rally on Thursday, Oct. 3, as well as their court will be recognized. The court includes freshmen Noah Thurber and Remira Snively,  sophomores Lincoln Wray and Olivia Claus, juniors Joe Abfalter-Dial and Kenadi Ames, and senior king candidates Kyren Douglas, Kash Elston, Andreas Harmon and Pray Lawson, and senior queen candidates Allison Ames, Katelyn Eby, ​Hannah Karre and Addison Spicer.

The rally will also feature all Fall Sports participants. Half-time entertainment of the game will include performances by the KHS Marching Band, Color Guard and Little Feathers. There will also be a presentation of the Homecoming Court at half-time.

The KHS Homecoming dance for KHS students will be held from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in Wright Fieldhouse. Cost is $5 per person and any form of ID that proves that a student is from KHS will work for entry.
