Keokuk students earn awards at Culver-Stockton Science Fair

At the 69th Annual Culver-Stockton Science Fair, 29 Keokuk Middle School and Keokuk High School students competed along with a total of 179 students from three states and six schools.

The results include:

      • 3rd Place – Xailynn Bryant
  • Junior High Chemistry
      • 3rd Place – Team Owen Maerz and Bryer Merydith
      • 1st Place – James Zirkel
  • Junior High Medicine and Health
      • 1st Place – Blessing Takorbisong
  • Senior High Botany
      • 3rd Place – Carl Hausch
  • Senior High Chemistry
      • 2nd Place – Alyana King
  • Senior High Medicine and Health
      • 2nd Place – Maribelle Zirkel
  • Senior High Microbiology
      • 3rd Place – Avery Totten
      • 1st Place – Cally Leenerts
  • Senior High Physical
      • 2nd Place – Kyan Campbell

The KMS and KHS students will also participate in additional science competitions this season, which include:

  • Feb. 27 KHS Science Fair in the KMS library
  • March 5 at the Southeastern Community College Science Fair
  • March 21 at the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair
  • March 25-27 at the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa

The KHS Science Fair Schedule of events on Feb. 27 at KMS features:

  • 4 p.m. – Judges Meeting
  • 4:05-5:30 p.m.  – Judging of Projects
  • 5:30-6 p.m. – Open to the Public (students will be on hand to answer questions about their projects at the fair)
  • 6 p.m. – Awards Presented and then a Parent Meeting
