KHS freshman earns regional Gold Key award for artwork

A Gold Key was presented to Keokuk High School freshman Alice Benedict from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition held on Saturday, March 7, at the University of Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City, Iowa.

Benedict displayed her painting, “The Last Light Left On,” and was recognized for this prestigious achievement.

A Gold Key is an impressive regional honor and all entries that win a Gold Key are automatically considered for national awards, including a Gold Medal, Silver Medal and scholarship awards. A list of all of the National Medalists will be published on the awards website later this Spring, according to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
