KMS band lessons begin on July 21

Keokuk Middle School summer band lessons begin on Monday, July 21, and continue during the weeks of Aug. 4 and 11. There are no lessons the week of July 28. Most lesson groups meet either on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursday.

Additional lesson times are provided for beginners, percussionists and students interested in honor bands. There is a meeting on July 21 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. for all students beginning any instrument. Band directors, Krystal Bottorff, Donna Dahl and James Pelini will be teaching the KMS band summer lessons.

It is not too late for students in grades 6-8 to start an instrument in band or to set up make-up lessons. Summer lessons are happening soon though, so please come in as soon as possible.

Any Keokuk Community School District students who are planning to participate in the KMS Bands for the 2025-26 school year need to be sure to attend lessons this summer. When the school year starts, sixth grade students will participate in the K-Det Band. Seventh and eighth grade students will participate in the Concert Band and also have an opportunity to participate in the KMS Jazz Band. Please contact KMS Band Director, Krystal Bottorff to schedule make-up lessons or with any questions regarding the KMS bands.

Mrs. Bottorff may be contacted in person at KMS, by email, ParentSquare or by phone:
