KMS Track program sees huge growth in participation in 2025

The Keokuk Middle School track program has nearly doubled in numbers in one year to 52 athletes. The boys and girls team are comprised of seventh and eighth grade students and have 26 athletes each. These numbers nearly match the 56 track athletes in the Keokuk High School Program that is comprised of 9-12 grades.
The district believes it may have something to do with the new track installed in the summer of 2024 and the added prestige of the already established and successful KHS Track program. In 2024, the track program had to practice without a track as the district prepped for the new track.
The first KMS home track meet will showcase the boys at 4:30 p.m. on April 22 and the girls at 4:30 p.m. on May 2, with a special second homecoming for the girls as Keokuk will host the Middle School Girls SEIMS Conference Meet this year on May 12.
