KMS Band Students Participate in Solo / Ensemble Music Festival

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Keokuk Middle School Band students participated in the solo/ensemble music festival at KMS. Events were given a rating of I for a “superior” performance, II for an “excellent” performance and special recognitions of “Outstanding Performance.” KMS had 24 events total that evening. The Keokuk students were well prepared and represented KMS with dedication, pride, and musicianship.  KMS Band Director, Krystal Bottorff along with KHS Band Director, Jesse Deese and volunteer, Boone Hunt, worked with these students to prepare this music during our second semester. Accompanists were Carolyn Brown and Debbie Spears. Judges for the event were Woodie Brassil, retired band director and school counselor, Karen Weirather, current elementary art and music teacher in Warsaw, Illinois, and Emily Otte, 5-12 band director from Holy Trinity School in West Point, Iowa.
