Top 14 KMS students qualify for chapter MathCounts competition in Ottumwa

The top 14 of the 45 Keokuk Middle School students that participated in the MathCounts competition have qualified for the chapter competition in Ottumwa. First place went to Blessing Takorbisong and second place went to Londyn Olsen.

The Top 14 at KMS included Blaze Barnes, back left, John Morris, Dustin Curtis, Peyson Reed, JJ Stevens, Wil Mossengren, Patrick Takorbisong, Ezza Matlick, front left, Bella Schneider, Lydia Bailey, Londyn Olsen, Mercedez Vicente, Blessing Takorbisong and not pictured Josh Higbie. The KMS contest was held on Jan. 15 in the KMS library. The Ottumwa competition will be held on Feb. 6.

The MathCounts Competition Series starts at the school level, then moves to the chapter level, next is at the state level and then students compete at the national level.

The state competition will be held later in the Spring, usually in Des Moines, Iowa.
