Hawthorne Elementary has launched an initiative to work on character building with students and the community has a chance to partner with the school.
For September the character trait was Confidence and there were 112 students that earned confidence circles from teachers as recognition each time they displayed confidence. Out of the 112 recognized students there were two names drawn per grade level that each received a $10 gift card prize donated from this month’s community partner Wyatt Family Trucking. The students drawn were Karly Cook, Frankie Barrick, Kolton Abston, Velerie Alvis, Sawyer Shaffer, Caris Higbie, Ruby Simmons, Jasper Zirkel, Tucker Crenshaw and Caedmon Failor.
Brian Wyatt of Wyatt Family Trucking came to Hawthorne to draw the two names and overall donated $100 worth of gift cards worth $10 each. Each month Kim Wyatt, Dean of Students at Hawthorne, will have a different community partner that will help draw names of the students that were recognized for demonstrating the monthly character trait.
